Grandma Colson's original recipe


  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup flour
  • 2 tablespoons oil


Beat eggs and salt in large bowl. In a medium bowl mix baking soda and buttermilk. Let sit for 3 min. Add buttermilk to eggs in large bowl. Add flour and mix in slowly. (Do not over mix). Fold in oil. Pour 1/3 cup batter onto non-stick griddle that is preheated to medium-high, spreading lightly with bottom of the cup to form a circle. When bubbles form on top of pancakes and begin to burst, flip pancakes and cook 1 to 2 minutes on other side. Serve immediately with butter and syrup.

Servings: 8-10 pancakes
